Total Blended Learning. Teleskill experience for new training scenarios

Pubblicato da Emanuele Pucci il 22/09/2021

Courses created with a blended learning system can be engaging and effective, but Total Blended Learning, designed by Teleskill, creates a more interactive and exciting approach.

The experience of individuals and organisations over the last two years has popularised a working model, mainly remote, which has had various names: teleworking, flexible working, smart working, remote working; the differences between these terms are significant and concern the ways in which the company and the employee share tools and objectives.

Today the situation has changed and more and more companies, national and international, are moving towards a hybrid system, which includes remote work and work in the office: blended working. According to the Osservatorio Smart Working del Politecnico di Milano e Valore D [Smart Working Watchdog of the Politecnico di Milano and Valore D], now is the right time for this transformation; “blended working” meets the needs of individuals, companies and society and inevitably brings with it a complete reorganisation of times and workplaces.

This reorganisation, or transformation, also concerns the training sector that embraces the same mixed approach: online training and then classroom training, according to a system called blended learning.

Advantages of blended learning.

Beyond the needs related to the current social situation, blended learning has already proved to be popular; it is, in fact, widely used by universities and online universities and is favoured by students.

Today, those who study expect to be in charge of their education and want to choose where and how to follow the lesson. This can take place in a traditional classroom or in a virtual classroom according to the needs of the individual. They also expect to be able to find a number of online resources to be accessed any time and from anywhere.

For companies, blended learning offers a number of advantages:

  • first of all, the matter of limiting access to a traditional classroom; live training can also take place online in the virtual classroom;
  • combine the merits of traditional training with the numerous merits of digital training; simplicity when organising the courses, detailed reporting on the individual learner or group, certified training;
  • better organisation of learning; traditional and digital training contents allow for a broader course offering and train the learner to choose with independence and autonomy.
  • incentives and personalised training; let’s say, for example, that one of the company’s goals is to increase class attendance and loyalty to a course. Using Web Academy, Teleskill’s e-learning platform, we can achieve this goal through a module of in-person learning in a classroom; thanks to the data recorded on a form, only those who attended the lesson can have online access to other insights or useful resources such as handouts, access to social collaboration groups, short training videos, peer support forums, support and tutoring via videoconference, informal learning content and much more.

Blended learning and “Total Blended Learning”

In our experiences over the last few months we have noticed the growing success of a system that in Teleskill we call “Total Blended Learning®”, consisting of three elements:

  1. traditional classroom training with the possibility of an extended classroom;
  2. live online training in the virtual classroom;
  3. recorded courses available on an e-learning platform created automatically with recordings of the live online training lesson.

As anticipated, the didactic methodology of blended learning – the effective combination of face-to-face training (classroom) and on-demand e-learning training (digital) – has been used for several years. Total Blended Learning, however, represents a further development of current blended training methodologies in a modern era of growing need for training paths and tools.

The most important innovation of Total Blended Learning, software licensed by Teleskill, is the addition of a third training methodology, live virtual classroom training, which automates participation, records the live broadcast and transforms it into advanced recorded content, and allows an in-depth analysis and study of the usage data of the entire distance learning process.

Teleskill live, in fact, consists of a series of windows, each of which is dedicated to a specific function of the application (audio-video, viewer, chat, participants, screen sharing, file, questionnaire etc).

Advanced recording of the lesson with Teleskill live.

Teleskill live allows you to record the session live using the “Start recording” button. There is always the option to choose the layout. This is an incredibly useful function in terms of effectiveness and practicality, especially now that one item can perform various functions: training, professional, presentation, updating. With Teleskill live, you can therefore choose the layout of the recording and automatically obtain e-learning training content, in a video that can always be made available online, or in a conference available to those who have not been able to connect live.

The recording of the webinar with the possibility to choose the layout is therefore useful because you can offer a recorded version of the event on-demand, and greatly helps the involvement of the participants because they have the possibility to review everything with ease and share the link on their social networks or with colleagues.

The choice of the layout to use.

Being able to customise “what users will see” has the advantage of saving time, because it does not require subsequent editing of the recording. At the start of the recording you can choose the layout and which windows to keep in the recorded video, for example you can choose not to record the chat, the questions to the speaker or the list of participants, recording only synchronised slides and videos of the speaker.

Output in SCORM format.

Teleskill live allows you to switch from the live webinar to the e-learning course.

As mentioned before, the recording can also be saved in SCORM 1.2 format; this means that the recorded webinar is immediately ready for uploading to an e-learning platform and for its use as a video lesson and e-learning module.

Teleskill Training Angel for designing courses in Total Blended Learning mode.

It’s clear that effectively integrating e-learning and classroom requires the planning of training courses that are suitable for a “blended” methodology. For example, you can organise the course in the classroom for practical experimentation, or for the discussion of the topics that were covered online. At the same time, online practice communities can be created that then verify “in real time” the work that was carried out remotely.

Teleskill Training Angel is a service proposed by Teleskill that supports the company in every phase of the design of the blended learning course, making use of more than twenty years of experience in the design of software and tools for online learning and communication.

Especially if you choose to adopt an approach based on the combination of the 3 elements mentioned above inTotal Blended Learning (classroom training, live virtual classroom and recorded courses), Training Angel can help you set up the right foundations, make the necessary teaching plans, and ensure your modern training course is successful.

Our consultants, in fact, cooperate with the course managers at all times and, just like an “angel”, they help support the design, implementation, and development of the course, the analysis of the results obtained, and the loyalty of the learners for any future projects and to maximise all the opportunities of Total Blended Learning integrated teaching.
